Öster Malma Castle

Öster Malma Castle and its two wings by the shores of Lake Malma in the county of Södermanland was built in the 1660s by the Swedish Board of Custom’s administrator Wilhelm Drakenhjelm. It is a charming Baroque-style castle that still retains its façade after 350 years. Hunting history, modern natural art and representative rooms with furniture typical of the period give the castle its character today. You are also faced with rows of trophies of game shot by the castle owners. The beautiful ceiling paintings and unique painted wallpaper with hunting motifs are alone enough to justify a visit to our castle.

We can also organise weddings and birthdays, as well as of course dinners in traditional castle surrounds. And we can assure you that our pub in the cool cellar vaults has heard its share of unbelievable hunting stories.

The castle also presents an art exhibition from the art association Nordic Wildlife Art.

The castle is open Wednesdays and Fridays 13,00 - 14,00. You are welcome to walk around on your own. Free entry.

You can also book guided tours of the castle. We talk about its history, look at the natural art and enjoy the castle’s well-preserved unique ceiling paintings and wallpaper. Price SEK 1,000 per group, approx. 1 hour.
