Strängnäs tourist office

Castles, manor houses, charming small towns on the shores of Lake Mälaren and winding lanes through Sörmland countryside welcome your visit.

If you are interested in culture and history then your interest will be satisfied by well-known Gripsholm Castle, Mälsåker Palace and Strängnäs Cathedral, all of which offer an insight into Sweden’s history.

In the area around Åkers Bergslag you can learn about the ‘History of Iron’ through a works museum and archive at Åkers Styckebruk and mining museum at Skottvång.

Arsenalen military vehicle museum is not only an experience for those with a specific interest in military vehicles. Here you hear stories about the people behind the vehicles. There is also a tin figure museum with historic settings in scenes, and a soldier’s croft which shows the dwellings of the tenement soldier and how they lived their lives.
